How to paint with glow sticks

Step one: Find a friend who is willing to strap glowsticks onto themselves and jump on a trampoline.

Step two: Get a tripod or flat surface to prop your camera on. The camera has to remain perfectly steady for about half a minute or more. No touching it!

Step three: Find the "Bulb" setting on your camera, or choose a long shutter speed. (I found that 25 seconds worked great for this)

Step Four: Ask your friend start jumping, and hit the button on your camera to take a picture. The shutter will remain open for however long you set it, effectively burning the light trails into your camera.

Step Five: Enjoy the results!!

1. My goal from now on is to carry my camera around more frequently so that I can capture all of the little moments that I always regret missing when I'm not toting my camera around.

2. Today is the last weekday of Christmas break. NKU actually got 4 weeks off this year, so now I really do feel relaxed and ready to go back. Hopefully the feeling lasts!

3. Being listed as "Single" on facebook cracks me up. I'm always getting ads for dating websites, motherhood, convents, etc. It's almost like facebook is more concerned about my vocation than I am right now. Here are a few that have popped up recently:

I'm not sure where the LDS ones came from, as I am Catholic.

4. My Grandparents gave me this amazing book as a gift, and I can't put it down. There are so many cool photographs inside!

5. It's only January, and I'm already getting anxious for outdoor concerts, baseball games, swimming, and just being outside in the sun. I am, however, still enjoying hoodie season.

6. I'm heating up a can of skyline chili for dinner tonight. Mmmm delicious :)

7. Recently I've been getting burned out easily while working out, and I finally decided it's because I'm getting bored of the same old play list on my ipod. So I started 'quick mixing' metal, punk, pop, Disney, and oldies on my Pandora station. I know it's silly, but it really does help!

1. I am a really bad blogger. My last post was... a long time ago.

2. Tomorrow I am attending an "Unbirthday Party" inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I wish I had a dress like this one to wear!

3. I turn 21 next week on July 4th!!

I have no idea what is in this drink, lets just pretend it's an alcoholic beverage.

4. I have had lots of fun looking for a present for my niece's Birthday! She will be two on July 3rd. It's kind of crazy to me that she is growing up so fast...

5. I've been messing with photos a lot recently. Nothing serious, just tinkering. My newest obsession is changing people's eye color.

Purple

Pink

Green

Blue

VAMPIRE CHILD!

6. I'm going to visit my sister and her little family next week! I can't wait!!! I will be taking a greyhound bus, so hopefully everything goes smoothly.

7. I'm hoping to get some new lens attachments for my camera soon, so photography related posts will be coming along shortly!

Happy Friday!!!

One: This is my very first blog post! I loved the idea of "quick takes" after reading my sister Rachel's blogThe Philosopher's Wife. Plus, I love making lists, so this seems like the perfect way for me to get started!

Two: I LOVE photography! That's what this blog will be about for the most part. I'm a photo/business major at Northern Kentucky University and hope to make a living out of my passion.

Three: They might not be doing great this season, but the Cincinnati Reds have a special place in my heart.  I'm working at the stadium this summer as a photographer!

I love seeing the big screen flash "Reds Win!"

Four: I'm a VERY proud aunt of an INCREDIBLY cute little girl, and I need to visit her and her parents sometime soon!

"Let me help you with that camera, Auntie Sarah!"

:)

Five: I took my last final as a Junior yesterday, and now I'm on Summer vacation! Which means more time to take fun photos like this one:

I strapped glow sticks to a friend and had her jump on a trampoline for me!
I'll write more about this technique in a different post.

Six: Now that classes are over and I will actually have some free time, I'm hoping to learn how to play the guitar that's been sitting in my room for the past two years! It hasn't been completely useless... It's starred in a handful of photographs.

My guitar!

Seven: The Summer isn't all about kicking back and relaxing (though that's one of the best parts!). It's also about all of the fun festivals, concerts, and exciting events that go on! I'm especially excited for the rock concerts coming up... Shinedown here I come!! :)
